Juvenile Justice System

Part 1

The juvenile justice system relates to the criminal justice system as a special unit in the system. This is because it is the system that governs juvenile delinquents(Knight et al. 2016). It provides for offenses that are associated with juveniles, the rights that juveniles have, and the role of the officers and the prisons that hold these types of offenders of the law.

Part 2

The juvenile justice system relates to the court’s branch of the justice system due to the fact that courts are the places where the offenses that these children are heard. The court processes for juveniles are not so different from what one would expect in normal courts. A good example is a plea taking after an arrest was made(Knight et al. 2016). Sometimes courts may also decide that the child should not be held in custody, but an alternative to the arrest should be made. This may either be rehabilitation where the child has committed a crime due to mental issues. This is something that is also closely associated with the courts role in restorative justice. This is a type of justice that is based on changing the behaviors of the child as opposed to punishing the child for breaking the law.

Part 3

Juvenile system relates to the correction branch in the sense that children can also be incarcerated. However, their incarceration does not involve them being placed in normal adult prisons(Leve, Chamberlain, and Kim 2015). They are placed in prison designed specifically for them. This is what many would refer as the separation from adults. Additionally, just like the normal adults have parole and probation officers, children who commit offences also have these people. This clearly brings out the relationship that exist between the two aspects.

Part 4

Social media creates awareness of the fact that children who go through the justice system, need to be helped, more than they need to be punished(Leve, Chamberlain, and Kim 2015). The people who use social media in such kind of a regard are activists who are pro the protection of children’s rights. The other people who use such platforms are parents of children facing trial who usually go to social media to get the help either from donations or through representation from lawyers. Social media also ensures that people take note when a child is about to face any injustice brought out by the system. A good example is where many young black children have been defended through the BLM on Twitter(Muller 2016).

Part 5

Active listening helps one understand the side of the story given by a child who is accused of a crime. This would help anyone to make a sound decision as regards the matter. A jugs and the officers arresting the child should be active listeners so that they assist the child in the best way possible. Active listening should be used so as to ensure that a child is not being punished but is being helped.

Part 6

Cultural awareness in this topic would help one to know which angel or even which ways he or she should use when approaching a child. Children hail from different cultures and that shapes how they behave and respond to things(Ince, Rojas, and Davis 2017). An understanding of the culture of the child makes it easy for that child to be understood and most importantly, allows that child to be helped. Sometime understanding the culture allows one to give advice to the child that may help.
