Project Description: Equity Screening and Portfolio Formation Objective:
To apply the Bloomberg Terminal’s equity screening function to identify securities with specific characteristics.
To form a basic portfolio from the selected securities, demonstrating an understanding of portfolio diversification and basic risk management principles.

Task Overview: Students will use the Bloomberg Terminal’s equity screening tool to find securities that meet predetermined criteria (e.g., within a certain industry, exhibiting specific financial ratios, or having a minimum market cap). Based on the results, students will select a variety of securities to create a diversified portfolio. This project will require them to apply concepts from the course, including company research, comparative analytics, and portfolio formation strategies.
Criteria for Securities Selection:
Industry/Sector: (Oil Gas, Healthcare, Real Estate, Semiconductor, Pharmaceutical)
Financial Ratios: (P/E Ratio < 20, Debt/Equity < %50) Market Capitalization: (Market Cap > $2 billion)
Geographic Location: (Companies based in North America)
Portfolio Formation Guidelines:
Select 5-10 securities from the screened results that best meet the project criteria.
Ensure the portfolio is diversified across at least 5 different industries.
Briefly justify the selection of each security, considering factors like growth potential, financial stability, and market position.
Use PRTU function on Bloomberg to create your portfolio, allocate 100,000 dollars among the securities you chose.
Deliverable:
Submit screen shots of each filtering to reach your securities and final portfolio page to Blackboard by Sept 15.
Notes : This is an individual project so every student should form its own portfolio.
