CYB 210 Module Two Packet Tracer Activity Guidelines and Rubric
Overview
The application of fundamental networking concepts provides the foundation for the increasingly complex task of designing a communication needs. In this activity, you will use Packet Tracer to perform the basic tasks of adding, connecting, and configu will need to modify an existing network by creating a new subnetwork and then add new systems to the reference network.
The image below is a logical diagram of the network for this activity.
The network topology details for this lab are located in the table below.

Prompt
Submit a Microsoft Word document with screenshots of your completed topology and ping tests. Your topology should identi
- Modify the Marketing subnetwork.
- Add a new generic PC (labeled PC3_Marketing) and assign an IP address as indicated in the table above.
- Drag a PC from the End Devices group in the lower left pane of Packet Tracer into the Marketing Network.
- Update the label to PC3_Marketing.
- Configure PC3_Marketing with the proper IP configuration, including an IP address or subnet mask for FastE iv. Connect PC3_Marketing to the Marketing Switch by dragging a Copper Straight Through cable from the Co
- Add a new printer (labeled Printer1_Marketing) and assign an IP address as indicated in the table above.
- Drag a printer from the End Devices group into the Marketing Network.
- Double-click to configure the label, IP address or subnet mask, and default gateway. iii. Connect the printer with a Copper Straight Through Cable to the Marketing Switch.
- Add a new generic PC (labeled PC3_Marketing) and assign an IP address as indicated in the table above.
- Create and populate the Advertising subnetwork.
- Select a new and valid Ipv4 network address with a correct subnet mask for the Advertising subnetwork. Ind
- Select an IP address from the Advertising Network to assign to the Advertising Gateway interface for Route
- Typically, this is the first usable address on the network.
- Configure the Advertising Gateway address on Router0.
- Assign the IP address to FastEthernet 1/0 on Router0.
- Add a 2960 Switch from the Switches Group to the Advertising Network.
- Connect a Copper-Stright-Through cable from Router0 FastEthernet1/0 to any port on the Advertising swit
- Add a new generic PC (labeled PC1_Advertising) to the Advertising subnetwork. The method of connection is u through the router (Router0_Gateway).
- Select a new and valid Ipv4 network address with a correct subnet mask for the Advertising subnetwork. Ind
- Test connections between devices in the Marketing and Advertising subnetworks. Submit three screenshots of ping te A. Screenshot showing the result of executing the ping command from PC1_Marketing to PC3_Marketing.
- Screenshot showing the result of executing the ping command from PC2_Marketing to Printer1_Marketing.
- Screenshot showing the result of executing the ping command from PC1_Advertising to PC1_Marketing.
What to Submit
Your submission should include two files. Your network modification will be in the form of a Microsoft Word document co results. Use a filename that includes the course code, the assignment title, and your name—for example, CYB_100_Project_On file using the same naming convention.
Module Two Packet Tracer Activity Rubr
Criteria | Proficient (100%) | Needs Improvement (70%) |
Marketing Subnetwork: New Generic PC | Modifies the Marketing subnetwork by adding a new generic PC (labeled PC3_Marketing) and assigns an IP address as indicated in the table | Modifies the Marketing subnetwork by adding a new PC, but the connection is incorrect or not labeled |
Marketing Subnetwork: New Printer | Modifies the Marketing subnetwork by adding a new printer (labeled Printer1_Marketing) and assigns an IP address as indicated in the table | Modifies the Marketing subnetwork by adding a new printer, but the connection is incorrect or not labeled |
Advertising Subnetwork: Valid Network IP Address | Selects a new and valid Ipv4 network address with a correct subnet mask for the Advertising subnetwork and indicates this on the topology | Identifies an invalid network IP address and/or subnet mask, or omits either the network address or the subnet mask |
Advertising Subnetwork: New Generic PC | Adds a new generic PC (labeled PC1_Advertising) to the Advertising subnetwork | Adds a new generic PC (labeled PC1_Advertising) to the Advertising subnetwork, but the connection is incorrect or not labeled |
Ping Tests | Tests connections with ping tests, and three screenshots are submitted showing the proper connectivity for the network requirements | Tests connections with ping tests, but fewer than three screenshots are submitted, or results are not consistent with the network requirements |
